WHAT IS A HEALTHY SUSTAINABLE CITY?

Imagine a time, when having to go to the hospital is seen as a failure of health and social care systems. Where most of the care and support you need can be offered at workplace and at home.

Imagine a place, where the buildings support the health system and are in tune with the environment. They use almost no carbon and are integrated into the community and with nature. They are inviting for residents and are a pleasure to live and work in.

Imagine a city, where the buildings and infrastructure promote healthy lifestyle. Where we minimise, recycle and re-use waste. Where we know that business operations take the long term financial, social and environmental costs into account.

Imagine you can create that place.

This is not utopia. This is reality.

PLENARY SESSIONS

A healthy environment is built in such a way that it helps to maintain the physical, mental and social well-being of people who live, work and rest in it.

In the 21st century, when the population is growing rapidly and the climate is changing, we are facing new problems in the healthcare sector. Public health today is not a unique responsibility of doctors: the well-being of the population is influenced by architects, developers, urban infrastructure designers and transport systems, landscape designers, manufacturers of materials for construction and equipping of buildings.

With such a paradigm shift new opportunities arise - the market is changing, there is a demand for leisure and work in a healthy environment that supports a modern view of the world, a healthy lifestyle that cares for people and nature. Within the framework of this forum, as a participant, you can contribute to the joint development of such a city, creating a new business vector, rather than adjusting to it.

Human health is affected by a variety of factors from water, food and air to being able to cycle to work, relieve stress during the working day and, most importantly, how much the environment itself promotes a healthy lifestyle.

Creating a healthy society begins with the understanding of how the design affects health. Given that the average resident of the megalopolis spends up to 90% of the time inside, it is a design that can play an important role in determining how healthy and productive the society is.

Today Russia is taking steps from the disease treatment to the disease prevention by creating an appropriate environment. By participating in the forum, you will become one of the pioneers in designing and implementing such innovative projects as the Center for Preventive Medicine, healthy schools and kindergartens, healthy office buildings and others. Getting involved in the process at the design stage gains you an undeniable advantage over competitors both from the point of view of expanding the market share and from the point of view of marketing and PR.

Progress is very fast and is getting only faster. In the cities of the future, not only infrastructure and buildings will be new, but also work, leisure, hobbies. Along with this, new challenges will arise.

Today already we can observe new types of disorders, such as cyber dependency - something 40 years ago no one could even imagine. According to “Atlas 100”, 57 professions will disappear by 2030, and 186 new ones will appear - an IT doctor, a bioethicist, a genetic consultant, an eco-analyst, an expert in overcoming environmental disasters, an eco-preacher, a concierge of robotics, and an agroinformatics specialist. As new professions and technologies enter our lives, new leisure, new wishes and interests of the population will come, as well as new diseases and ways of treatment.

By designing the future together, we have a unique opportunity to look at it from all sides, without missing anything, eventually providing a product that perfectly meets the requirements of the new generation.

WHY PARTICIPATE IN THE FORUM?

In what way the work within the forum and strategy sessions will facilitate the creation of healthy and sustainable cities?

The participants can lead in building healthier environments in the following ways:

As a fundamental consideration in development projects, by incorporating elements that enhance health and the environment, such as selecting development sites with public transit access; building in compact ways, including amenities that promote healthy lifestyles; and using healthy building materials;

Through their influence on policy, by working with local and national governments, regional transportation agencies, foundations and community groups, and business, health care, education, and civic leaders to create land use, zoning, and building frameworks that are conducive to healthy lives.

Through their organizations, by following principles of planning, design, and construction that incorporate healthy and sustainable practices, and by setting an example with healthy work environments and policies that encourage fitness and healthy eating and by cooperation with fellow participants

STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSIONS
Strategic session subjects

Every participant of the strategy session will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a new business-vector, gaining an undeniable advantage over the competition. By participating in strategic planning, a company becomes proactive rather than reactive, sets up a sense of direction for others, increases operational efficiency, increases market share and profitability and becomes more durable.

The results of the strategy session - a jointly developed roadmap of how to introduce and promote a healthy sustainable cities and architecture in Russia - will be presented to the top governmental bodies of the Russian Federation, which will include the range of all necessary materials and technologies presented by the participants, and the actions to be taken in order to execute the jointly developed strategy.

Strategic sessions will be held on a regular basis in cooperation with federal, regional and municipal government members, the leading businesses, architects and scientists. All participants will have the opportunity continue the cooperation and development work on a regular basis and will gather every 3 months at the Agency of Strategic Initiatives, which is a governmental agency with Vladimir Putin as chairman.
